Construction firms play a fundamental role in infrastructural and economic development of any nation. Employee Performance in the firm is therefore critical. Available statistics indicate that Occupational Health Compensation and Safety Practices contribute to employee performance in these firms. There has been remarkable effort by researchers seeking to unravel the relationship between the practices and employee performance however very limited has been carried out about anchorage of the relationship on Moderation by Management support. It is against that background that this study was carried out. The purpose of this study was to determine the perceptions of Occupational Health Compensation and Safety Practices on employee performance in construction firms. The specific objectives of the study were: to establish the perceptions of Worker Health Benefit Practice on Employee Performance, to establish the perceptions of Hazard Identification and Assessment practice on Employee Performance, to determine the perceptions of hazard prevention and Control Practice on Employee performance, to determine the perceptions of safety education and training practice on employee performance, to establish the perceptions of safety monitoring and evaluation practice on employee performance and to determine the moderating effect of Management support. The theoretical frameworks were: Universalistic, Contingency, Resource Based View (RBV) and Motivation Hygiene theories. This study was anchored on both Positivism and Interpretivism paradigms. Explanatory Research Design was used. The study population was 449 and a sample size of 212 using Yamane formulae (1967). Stratified, proportionate, simple random and purposive sampling techniques were used. Primary data was collected using questionnaires, interview guide and Document analyses. Quantitative data was analyzed using descriptive statistics, regression and ANOVA and Qualitative data by thematic content analysis. The Moderating effect of Management support was analyzed by Regression. The findings of the study indicated that the stated variables namely: Worker Health Benefit Practice, Hazard Identification and Assessment Practice, Hazard Prevention and Control Practice, Safety Education and Training Practice and Safety Monitoring and Evaluation Practice relationship with employee performance was at R2 = 0.408, 0.375, 0.400, 0.371 and 0.258 respectively. Occupational Health Compensation and safety practices moderated by management support explained R 2=0.706 variance in employee performance in the construction firms. Subsequently, a conclusion was drawn that the construction firms should direct focus on Worker Health Benefit, Hazard Identification and Assessment, Hazard Prevention and Control, Safety Education and Training, Safety Monitoring and Evaluation and Management Support. Consequently the study recommends Occupational Health and Safety Practices namely: Worker Health Benefit Practice, Hazard Identification and Assessment, Hazard Prevention and Control, Safety Education and Training, Safety Monitoring and Evaluation attained through measures: sick off pays, insurance cover, medical schemes, safety surveys, safety audits, risk analysis, routine employee medical checkups, safety needs assessments, periodic reviews, interventions and lastly Management Support anchorage through measures namely: Resource allocation, effective communication and employee engagement.en_US
