Income Generating projects are those projects which enable schools to acquire additional income that can assist in supplementing various expenditures such as employing more staff, building more infrastructure and helping the bright and needy students. They are important because they help in reducing some of the financial challenges and distress faced by the learning institutions. Rar:ieda sub-county has 32 public secondary schools majority of which has been in place for over S years. The study sought to seek the role of IGAs on growth of public secondary schools in Rarieda sub-county. The study also sought to find the effect of IGAs on growth of assets, the contribution of IGAs in funding education and the influence of IGAs on capacity development of schools in the sub-county. The study used the growth model and the Resource Dependency theory. The theory was used to explore the variables: data was analysed and presented using descriptive and inferential statistics which provided valuable information on influences ofIGAs on growth of public secondary schools in Rarieda sub-county. The study population was 32 secondary schools, 32 principals and 160 BOM members. Stratified sampling was used to select schools according to their categories and Purposive sampling was used to get a sample size of 22 schools from which 22 principals, 22 HODs and 111 BOM members. Correlation research designs were adopted to help in gathering information from the respondents. Questionnaires were used to collect data. Reliability of the instruments was tested by subjecting the instruments to a pilot studv on 10% of the population while face validity was determined by two experts from •the School of Business and Economics of Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of Science and Technology. Data was analyzed using descriptive statistics, percentages and frequencies and inferential statistics of Spearman' s correlation coefficient to establish the strength of the relationship between the independent and dependent variables. The results were; Ihcome generation has a positive bearing on growth of schools-assets with the null hypothesis being rejected at a rho factor of positive 0.5, that financial utility is weakly positively related to the growth of schools with null hypothesis rejected at rho 0.1, capacity development was weakly inversely related to the growth of schools with rho of -0.15 hence the null hypothesis rejected. The conclusions made were that IGAs affect growth of Assets in public secondary schools and that they also influence capacity development for staff in various secondary schools within the sub-county.en_US
