dc.description.abstractEvery organization desires to be successful as much as current environment is very competitive. Employees in both public and private sector organization are becoming increasingly aware that motivations increases productivity. This study investigated influence of motivation on employee performance of Busia county referral hospital. The specific objectives were to: Establish the influence of remuneration on organization performance, establish the influence of promotion on organization performance and to investigate the influence of training on organization performance. The study was carried out in Busia Referral Hospital. The target population comprised of all the permanent employees in Busia County Referral Hospital with a total of 150 employees from various departments. Seven head of departments were purposively selected. Stratified sampling technique was used for sampling design while Morgan table was used to draw a sample size of 108 respondents. Primary data were collected by use of questionnaires and interview schedule was developed to collect qualitative data from head of departments. Validity of the instrument was tested by my supervisor who critically analyzed the instrument in details and reliability was tested by pilot study and computed by Cronbach's Coefficient Alpha. Quantitative data was collected and analysed using descriptive statistical tools and regression analysis, qualitative data was summarized and grouped into themes. Data processing and analysis was carried out using the Statistical Package for Social Sciences Software and the results were presented in tables. Empirical review was done and the study highlighted two concepts theory of motivation. The study employed correlational research design. Discussions, conclusions and recommendations were drawn from the study findings. Karl Pearson's coefficient of correlation was used to establish the relationships between the variables of the study and the result show that the correlation coefficient between remuneration and organizational performance was found to be r=0.687, promotion and organizational performance was r=0.793 while that of training and organizational performance was r=0.846. These results were all positive and significant hence the deduction of the fact that employee motivation had a positive influence on organizational performance. The result was found to be in agreement with the fact that employee motivation has a positive influence on organizational performance which has been also reported by other research studies. Regression analysis indicated that all the independent variables significantly influenced organizational performance. Both stepwise regression model and ANOVA show that there was a significant relationship between organizational performance and employee motivation. The study is useful in assisting the management to identify the motivating factors which will help them to retain employees within the organization. The study recommends that the organization need to address the problem concerning the different type of promotion that will be able to be appreciated by all employees. Finally the study recommends that the organization should develop a well-planned training policies and procedures. This study suggested that more research to be carried out on other factors of motivation in order to do justice to all the factors that influence workers motivation.en_US
